Robert Walsh, Jr. (1785-1859) was born in Baltimore. He was well known as a publicist and diplomat. His 'Appeal from the Judgment of Great Britain respecting the United States' (1819), was an important contribution to the political literature of the era. Journalist and man of letters, Walsh (1784-1859) was editor of a number of periodicals and, in 1811, founded the first US quarterly. This is his first book. It was well received in Britain as it strove to convince Americans to ally themselves with England against the French.
