Volume Four: Toilers of the Sea and Ninety-Three. Volume Five: Hernani, The King's Diversion, and Ruy Blas. Each volume contains beautiful black-and-white woodcut illustrations.

Oversize; Postage & Packing may cost extra. Blind-embossed covers with gilt decoration. Minor wear and marks commensurate with age.

Thomas Y. Crowell & Co.. Very Good. 1888. Leather Bound. Appears to be complete set, but may not be. Apparently, Crowell issued a Hugo set with several bindings in 1888, and no other books are included in the other sets. Translated by Isabel Hapgood. All books in three-quarters brown leather with marbled paper. Same marbled paper for endpages. On all seven volumes, bindings are solid, except History of a Crime is weak at front hinge. Pages are unmarked and only slightly aged. Marbled edges as well. Leather portions of covers show some wear, especially at spine tips, but titles are all still legible. Paper portions of covers generally fine. No dustjackets at issue. .

Previous owner's rubber stamp in volume 1 of Les Miserables. Bindings are tight, a couple volumes very lightly cocked. Many unopened pages. One board with chewed corner. Volumes are clean and in very good condition overall. Each volume copiously illustrated with designs by CHIFFLART, D. VIERGE, VICTOR HUGO, BAYARD, BRION, JOHANNOT, G. ROCHEGROSSE, DE NEUVILLE, MORIN, VALNAY, and other eminent French artists. A very nice set.
