The date 1949 is shown on both the title page and the copyright page (1949 First Edition). This hardcover book has some beautiful color illustrations. The binding is strong with all pages firmly attached. The pages are clean with no soiling. There is a dedication written on the first end paper. The covers are in great shape with some light edgewear. I have placed this old book in a fresh mylar jacket and it looks and feels great! We always ship in a sturdy cardboard box!

Probably late 1950s between 1958 Oxford sale and 1961 when Walck issued copies with his own imprint. Front pasted endpaper is actually the first leaf of the book. And read pasted endpaper is last leaf of the second signature.
