Philadelphia: McCarty and Davis, 1828. 4tos, 22x13cm, 472 and 484pp. Printed in two columns. Frontis and extra illustrated title in each with engravings by George B. Ellis after designs by R. Smirk, R.A. Contemporary sheep with black morocco spine labels. Ownership signature of "R.O. Auld" in each. Volume 2 lacking front endpaper and fly, else both complete. Foxing throughout, some marginal moisture staining, corners of first 50 pages of vol. 2 chewed. Boards rubbed, soiled, and worn. Very good. American set of Shakespeare, stereotyped in two columns by J. Howe and published by McCarty and Davis of Philadelphia.  Wonderfully untouched in a  contemporary full sheep binding.
