This delightful Christmas story, originally published by Viking in 1941, was published here in a limited edition for Christmas, 1952, by the Aldus Printers for its customers and employees. The story tells of an early Christian farmer, who wishes to go on a pilgrimage to Bethlehem, but every time he saves up the necessary gold pieces for the journey, some event occurs requiring that he spend the money in a charitable way. At the end of his life, the pilgrimage never made, a miracle occurs that reveals to him the true meaning of Christmas. The book is bound in blue boards with die-stamped gilt titles and a decorative design in gilt, pink, and white on the front panel. The book is in Fine condition and has been protected all these years by its original glassine wrapper, even though the wrapper itself is torn and chipped. The book has pink endpapers.
