Description:
New York: Farrar & Rinehart Incorporated, 1933. First Edition. Hardcover with Dust Jacket. Near Fine/Very Good+. 12mo. Pp. ix, 297. Black cloth, titles stamped in gilt on the spine, titles and rose illustration stamped in gilt and scarlet on the cover, top edge dyed red, title page in scarlet and black: one leaf (pp. 19-20) with a closed half-inch tear on the fore-edge; remnant of bookseller tag on rear pastedown. In the three color illustrated dust jacket, price $2.50 intact on the front flap: edges rubbed, red and gold remain brilliant. An American is drawn into revolution in a Latin American dictatorship. Beautifully designed and printed with tasteful decorative initial caps and running heads. The art-deco dust jacket illustration, uncredited, evokes torrid-climate exoticism. Dust jacket is now preserved in a removable, clear archival sleeve.
