FIRST EDITION OF THIS IMPORTANT BIOGRAPHY. Vyvyan Richards and T.E. Lawrence were good friends from early college days. They planned at one point to open a printing house together and to specialize in good books printed beautifully. T.E.L. died before the two could realize their early dream. Vyvyan Richards went on to print a number of books including one on the first pages of Caxton's printings done in the 15th century. The book is especially important as it provides a view into Lawrence's efforts and accomplishments as well as his personality and discipline and was written by one of his closest friends and colleagues.

Richards was an Oxford school chum of Lawrence; his recollections and views cast Lawrence as a great leader and thinker, rather than the romantic crusader adopted by the public - a view enhanced following his death the year prior to the publication of this book.
