The author has made four corrections to the text.Presentation copy from the author, inscribed by him on the dedication page: ''And this copy is the property of Mr. Gerald Reitlinger, Gent. of Woodgate House in the County of Sussex, whose travels in Europe, Asia, Africka, the Americas, and furthest Antipodes have made him justly respected, presented by the author Anthony Powell - Feb. 20th. 1935, 25 Geo V''. In his autobiography, Anthony Powell mentions that Caledonia grew from a versifying game he used to play with Gerald Reitlinger, which makes this an especially significant association copy.Spine splitting and defective.
