Description:
New York: E.P. Dutton, 1939. First edition. Hardcover. Good. First edition stated. Hardcover in violet cloth with spine lettered in black. 224 pp. A faulted copy, good only, some staining to the top quarter of the front cloth and heavier staining to the rear cloth, 1 1/2" split to the top front gutter and wear to the spine extremities. Front hinge is split as well. The text is, however, clean. A key title in the field of occultism, Bowen's attempt to present a practical aspect of Hermetic philosopy of self-development in the schools of the Mystery tradition. Captain P.G. Bowen was, at the time of this publication, President of the Hermetic Society of Dublin. Bowen's father had been a student of madame Blavatski in London; the Hermetic Society of Dublin was established as ameeting place for like-minded young writers, poets, and intellectuals in the early part of the 20th century. (NOTE WEEL: THIS COPY SOLD "AS IS' IN TERMS OF CONDITION).
