"Much of the information for this work was gathered as a result of Peck's extensive travel over the state and from personal interviews with citizens familiar with their counties of residence" (Byrd 191). Contemporary bookplate indicating that the book was donated to a college by the Reverend Sherwood in 1841, later owner name, label remnant on the spine, else an attractive, very good or better copy. Inscribed by the author: "Rev. Adiel Sherwood with the respects of the Author. Sept. 1841." *BAL* P170.
