N. Y.: Dodd, Mead & Company, 1900. This was the first of three Paul Leicester Ford's romances for which Margaret Armstrong did the cover and decorations. Green cloth on boards binding with Christmas themed decoration, gold gilt lettering has a faint pink water stain near the tail of the spine. This clear faint water stain can be seen on the back of the frontis page. Bends to corners of cover but quite clean. Gift inscription to previous owner dated 1900 on front free endpaper. The Copp Clark Co Limited, 1900. Hardcover. Acceptable. 1900. No Edition Remarks. Unpaginated. No dust jacket. Green patterned cloth boards with gilt lettering. Contains black and white and colour illustrations. Clean pages and illustrations with light tanning and mild foxing throughout. More pronounced to free endpapers and pastedowns. Pen inscriptions to front free endpaper. Ownership plate stuck to front pastedown. Frontispiece detached but still present. Rough cut pages with top textblock edge dyed gilt. Binding remains firm. Boards have mild edge-wear with slight rubbing to surfaces and bumping to corners. Gilt lettering is darkened. Moderate tanning to spine and edges with crushing to spine ends. Minor splits to spine ends and corners causing cloth to be frayed. Book has a slight forward lean. Minor wear marks to boards.

New York: Dodd, Mead & Company, 1901. Hardcover. Fine/VG-. 8vo - over 7¾ - 9¾" tall. H. C. Christy (Howard Chandler Christy). Hardcover with original dust jacket. A beautiful example of this book, rarely found in this condition. Art nouveau green cloth boards with gilt lettering and design on front and spine. This book had always been stored with dust jacket so boards are bright and crisp. There are some very small spots to the shine of the cloth. Only issue with the interior of book is on the front pastedown someone had written their name and address and then erased it. Very minor toning two pages, binding is good and strong, corners are sharp. This is a very beautiful book in very beautiful condition, fine condition with dust jacket in VG- condition. See photos.
