Paul Periwinkle is a lively naval adventure novel in the Marryat mould. Issued anonymously as "by the author of Cavendish". The dating of the Lea edition is uncertain (no copies in COPAC)..

[5], vi-vii, [4], 4-640, [2] pp. Later half brown morocco over brown cloth with the boards ruled in gilt and the spine in six compartments with gilt decorations and lettering; all edges marbled. Lovely marbled endpapers and pastedowns. Illustrated with forty plates engraved by Hablot K. Browne (Phiz). Muir 19. NCBEL III 953. A sharp copy of a Victorian novel featuring naval battles and scenes of battle during the Haitian Revolution. Minor rubbing to the corners and front joint; a bookplate and an ink inscription with the typical toning to the plates (the plates were printed on poor-quality paper).
