Purple, black and buff paper wrappers, originally stapled - staples removed to prevent further rust damage. Wrappers lightly tanned, rust visible on spine, and mostly throughout at edge of inner margins, including the photographic portraits of poets. Else, clean and bright. Moore's survey of the British poetry scene, 1950-1957. Includes portraits of Robert Graves, Edwin Muir, Kathleen Raine, and Thom Gunn. Moore was a scholar of American literature, as well as a writer, poet, and broadcaster. Appointed the G.F. Grant Professor of American Literature at Hull University in 1962, he established its Department of American Studies. Scarce.
