Although tending toward the didactic, "Giselda"is an instance of Edgeworth's lighter side. First published in 1804, Here is an early printing that might have been a lovely copy, were it not disbound. One cover is loose but present; the other has gone missing. Originally a full calf binding, cross-hatched, with a gilt rule on the cover. The spine, which is still present, has ruling, decorations, and titling in gilt. The text is clean, very bright and clear; 200 pages. A few spots and faint flood-marking. Please note the condition issues. Quercus must offer this as a Binding Copy, in need of repairs or restoration. Rubbed to the boards and the joints, which are starting to crack near the head of the spine. There has been a little loss of calf to the head of the spine., and the spine label is missing.
