Raised bands, gilt ruling and numeral, and red gilt label per spine. Mild wear to boards and board edges. 8vos (13.5 x 20.4cm). All edges speckled red, top edges darkened. Hinges sound. No ownership marks. Endpapers discreetly repaired at gutters with laid paper. Minor offset browning to endpapers. Worm damage to outer margin from p. 327 of vol. II to end of vol., mostly pinprick holes except final 7 leaves, not affecting text. Index and advertising leaf to rear of vol. II. 6 plates (3 per vol.), including frontis port of Milton at age 21, as called for. Frontis by George Vertue; other plates engraved by Charles Grignion after Francis Hayman (founder member of the Royal Academy). Tail-pieces. ESTC N19461. Attractive volumes. ~Robust packaging.
