George Brinton McClellan was an important officer during the American Civil War and the Mexican-American War. He published several works on his involvement in the military, such as his 'Manual of Bayonet Exercise'. This soldier's manual was written based on the French fencing techniques of Gomard and includes numerous full-page illustrations depicting footwork and attack positions.
