George Routledge & Sons. Hardcover. Very Good/No Jacket as Issued. No date. 'The Stevenage edition'. A tight, handsome, mostly uncut copy. The endpapers are tanned. The blue cloth boards are insignificantly bumped and barely worn at the edges. No bowing to either boards or spine. The image of a stately home is deep stamped in gilt on the front cover. The spine is sunned/faded and slightly rubbed at head and foot; the gilt titling is bright.

The corners are rubbed through to the boards. and softened. The spine is sun darkened and the cloth is wrinkled, spine ends are bumped and nicked, and the edges are rubbed. The boards are scuffed and have some marks. The prelims and endpapers are foxed. There are gaps in the bindings of the bfep and page 432. The page block is tanned. Text remains clear throughout. Cheap edition published by King, later convicted for embezzlement and fraud. (Well worth reading the report of his 1909 trial at Old Bailey Online). Stock toned and a little spotting to endpapers, but otherwise in general good order throughout. Smart green cloth with bright gilt and black titling and decoration, lightly bumped head and foot of spine with a couple of small marks to rear. 12mo. 477pp
