Bound in original red cloth boards with title and decoration in gilt to the spine. Some fading to the spine and a little rubbing and bumping to the boards, but the binding is otherwise in smart condition. Inside, the pages are clean and bright and free from marks or damage save for a touch of toning.
In all, this is a very smart edition of this novel by Lord Lytton. Originally published in 1829, this novel was part of Lytton's four-part series, the 'Pelham Novels'. It is set in the late 17th Century and tells the story of a love affair between Devereux and the beautiful Lady Henrietta Temple. Lytton brings the tale to life beautifully with his vivid descriptions of both the characters and the period in which the novel was set.

Volume from the Knebworth edition of Lord Lytton's works, produced in the 1870s. Half dark blue leather binding, over lighter blue pebbled cloth, with gold rules decoration, five raised bands, gilt lettering and decoration on spine, all edges marbled, marbled endpapers, illustrated frontispiece. Boards a little rubbed at edges, especially on rear corners and head of spine, with some minor mottling in cloth. Internally neat, clean, bright and tight barring starting cracks at gutters between endpapers. Nice volume, appealing to read and hold. We have several more volumes, in the same, uniform, binding, from the Knebworth edition of Bulwer-Lytton's works - reasonable offers on multiple purchases welcome. 12 mo.
