Lawrence, Janet Suzman as Frieda, Ava Gardner as Mabel Dodge Luhan and Sir John Gielgud. Directed by Christopher Miles. This script contains all the scenes that were shot and later deleted. In 1985, the film was significantly revised. The two main reasons for re-cutting were that director Miles had been aware that although the film had fairly well received, that at 125 minutes it needed shortening, and there were also complaints about the Shepperton Studios soundtrack, which needed re- mixing.
