Notable tanning to endpapers and page edges. Previous owner's inscription to front endpaper. Both hinges cracked with netting visible, thus the boards are slack. Some gutter cracking. Mild wear and bumping to spine, board edges and corners, with crushing to spine ends. Moderate tanning to spine, with scuffing, staining and marking to boards. Small splits (approx. 1cm) to spine ends.

A Very Good Copy. 12mo - over 6¾" - 7¾" tall. 368p., 8 leaves of plates, illustrations, one of the great compilatons with chapters on Marco olo, the old Slave Trade, Alvardo Nunez; John Fox, along with many others. The author was the son of Charles Kingsley and was one of the earliest literary men to go to Australia. His efforts at finding gold led to various misadventures until he returned to England to writing his best novels. All edges gilt. Black morocco label is partially gone but condition is very good.
