Just before Chapter one of the text there is a fold-out map showing the route of the Santa Fe expedition. There are no tears or extraneous folds on the map. There is a tissue guarded captioned frontispiece entitle "Scamper Among the Buffalo". There are no tears on the tissue. The top edge of the pages are gilt. The outer edge of the pages are deckled.
