Badly worn at rounded tips, very slight wear to bottom edges, tiny tear at spine bottom left edge, inside front cover and adjacent end paper three wide but small tears at each staple. Fair.

Illustrated in both color and in black and white, with photographs of the real Pantaloon on the inner dustjacket flap. Pictorial laminated boards with gray cloth spine, illustrated endpapers, 56 pages, illustrated dustjacket. The book has some edgewear and a couple of sharp bumps to the rear cover, one at the lower corner and one at the upper edge. Good hinges, sound text block, clean pages with occasional light finger soil, small 1941 gift inscription on front pastedown, no other markings. The mylar protected dustjacket is not priceclipped and has quite a bit of edgewear, mainly tiny chips and tears, with a longer tear along the front spine edge with just a little paper loss, mainly at the spine head. Nice copy overall.. First Edition. Hard Cover. Good/Good. 4to - over 9¾" - 12" tall.

Very good plus bright copy with some very minor splitting to the hinges and a trace of edge wear in a very good dust jacket with a 1 1/2” tear to the top edge of the rear panel and some small chips and tears. A true story about a family of elephants written for children by Mrs. Martin Johnson who, with her husband, were among the first to make films of unexplored parts of Africa and the South Pacific.

New York: Random House Copyright is 1941. Tight, un-read, as new copy in like dust jacket that shows a 1/32 inch chip at head of spine, and very slight wear at corners. Jacket is otherwise pristine and now protected in a clear mylar sleeve. A signed sheet of paper reading "Best wishes / Osa Johnson" has been laid in with this book, though was not acquired or originally distributed with this book. The signature sheet is also in fine condition. Ironically, both the book and the signed sheet of paper come from the estate of Osa's second husband Clarke Getts, though through completely different channels. . Signed by Author.
