New York, April 30th, 1850., 1850.. Good. - Over 80 words penned on 6-1/4 inch high by 7-3/4 inch wide buff paper. Under the heading of "A card - To the Public" Rev. William K. Hoyt addresses his letter to the editor of the Police Gazette. Complaining of an article which appeared in the Police Gazette the previous week entitled "A gross case of Swindling" which implicates Hoyt. The Reverend claims that it is "calculated to do me great injury while the facts of the case have not yet transpired by an investigation...." He goes on to request that "the community may suspend their opinion...." until he's had opportunity to defend himself in court from "the base charges thus made against me". Signed "Wllm K. Hoyt".
