Published as Kaiser Wilhelm and Alfred von Tirpitz sought to expand Germany's military and colonial power, LUSTIGES KLEINKINDERBUCH paints a very nationalist picture of childhood in pre-WWI Germany. Among the usual - if particularly idealized - activities are numerous German flags, as well as a stereotypical depiction of a Black person leading an elephant. This title was published relatively early in Gertrud Caspari's impactful career, and exhibits the aesthetic she would become known for. 7.5'' x 9.5''. Original cloth-backed color pictorial boards.
