Description:
The Manchaca Hills is an area southwest of Austin, Texas. Mrs. Carpenter grew up there in the 1870"s and 80"s. Many of her family and neighbors came to Texas in the 1830's, or earlier. She went to college, Sam Houston Normal College in 1893. She was the first woman she ever knew of who went to college. She tells her story, and the stories of her family in the most delightful way imaginable. Every single page is like a slap in the face because her hilarious turn of phrase. This book really needs to be reprinted. The book has a corner bump on the front bottom right. The dust jacket is chipped and has edgewear, especially at the top spine. There is no paper loss, though. The jacket is price clipped. Otherwise, the pages are clean and unmarked, and the binding is tight. The book is in very good condition, the jacket is listed as good.
