Gilt on brown cloth boards. 130pp illustrated b/w. 8vo. The Rev John Ayliff, well known pioneer Methodist missionary, was living in Grahamstown for the period covered. Documents dealing with the first decade of the Settlers are few and his journal tells clearly of the hard life faced by them at this time. Extensive notes, list of Ayliff's preaching appointments.
