New York: Alfred A. Knopf/ Borzoi Books, 1947. Hardback. Very Good. FIRST US EDITION. 8vo. Original chestnut cloth, spine lettered in gilt, decorative blind-stamped "C H" to upper board. Top edge brown, leading edge untrimmed. Spine sunned, gilt dulled, extremities bruised, edges toned. Faint bands of offsetting and trace of tape marks to endpapers (mirroring those on dust jacket flaps). Else, clean and tight. In Philip Grushkin's original dust jacket: front flap clipped (but stating price at head: "A Forum Book $1.00"), shabby, toned, creased and worn, white splodge to front panel, numerous closed tears and losses with amateur taping to reverse, largest loss to head of spine.
