Description:
Used book has very little markings, writing from the previous owner. No DJ. Some bumping, rubbing, fading, little tears on the top, spine, edges, corners. Outer page edges with tanning, browning, stains and foxing. On the back of title page the pub.dates have been worn away, but with research i believe the date is 1926. Guttering has happened in the front, back of book but NO pages are loose and binding is still tight. Just fragile. Published in England as *The God Within Him*, a novel of the wasters of Mayfair, a brilliant young woman flits from London society to the Riviera to the Alps, encountering a mysterious young foreigner. 1926. Description:
New York: Cosmopolitan Book Corp., 1926. First Edition. . Hardcover. Fair To Good. Hichens, a popular English author who wrote several bestselling novels in the 1920s and 30s, was able to move easily from satire to fantasy to horror to detective fiction. "The Unearthly," titled "The God Within Him," in England, is an example of Hichens' work in religious fantasy, the occult and the paranormal. It features a young woman, Imogen Lowrie, a member of what would probably be the "jet set" today, flitting aimlessly about Europe until she meets and becomes entranced by an intense young sculptor, Peter Kharkoff, who seems to be able to direct his thoughts into others' minds, making them "prisoners of his mind." First printing, First U.S. Edition. About 5 x 7 1/2 inches, 520 pages dark blue cloth-covered boards with title/author box on front cover bordered in light blue with light blue lettering in box and on spine. Sorry, dustjacket is missing. Boards are… Read More
