Chipping and wear to edges, vertical crease to front board, name and addres on front pastedown, binding cracked. Previous juvenile owner has contributed some quite good pencil art and coloring throughout text. A good only copy of a scarce book.

Disbound; boards are present, moderate dust soil to pictorial paste down, heavy edgewear, worn through at corner tips, cloth binding, NO NAMES OR MARKINGS, sprinkle of foxing on half-title, internally clean & solid on sturdy high quality stock. The illustrations (12 full color & numerous text decorations) are WONDERFULLY & brightly done in Hassall's own "Poster Style" (influenced by famous poster artist Alphonse Mucha during the 1890's), depicting flat colors enclosed by thick black lines; noted, then, as very suitable for children's books; would make marvelous framed prints!
