Reissued in its first edition, this 1731 popular introduction to the solar system and the use of astronomical apparatus, such as globes and orreries, went through fourteen printings by 1793.

The folding plate of the great Orrery is mounted on scrim-cloth and laid in as frontispiece though it is separately priced at 2 shillings as the price is engraved in the plate on the lower corner. There are three pages with a minor ink mark and a few leaves with narrow browning to lower edge but never more than one fourth of the marginal depth. Cushee, globe-maker at the Globe and Sun, between St. Dunstan's Church and Chancery-Lane, both in Fleet-Street. Joseph Harris (1703-1764), was a blacksmith, astronomer, navigator, economist, natural philosopher and government adviser and King's assay Master at the Royal Mint. Joseph appears to have moved in with John Senex, notable chart- and map-maker, and was perhaps apprenticed to, but certainly working with Senex, and the co-operated to produce at least two star-maps.
