The book is in good condition with some bumping to corners of the covers/shelfwear. The dust jacket is in poor condition with heavy shelf-wear and some browning. There is heavy rubbing along all edges, with some chips and tears. there is a 2" piece that is torn from the top of the front panel but still there in a protective cover. This important story was the basis for the film BORN TO KILL, produced in 1947, in the genre of "film noir" and began the directing debut of Robert Wise in the first of a number of "film noir" movies. which had been previously associated with Orson Wells and then with Val Lewton - RKO group. this leads to the interesting speculation that RKO developed the quintessential "Film Noir" style of the 1940s do to a unique synthesizing of their stylistic contributions.
