Light edgewear, sound binding, light soil and foxing to endpapers and outer edges of text block, personal ex-libris stamp on front pastedown, pages clean with a few instances of light foxing or finger soil to the marings. The mylar protected dustjacket has only its inner flap, about 80 percent of the front cover and the top half of the spine; remaining portion is missing.. First Edition. Hard Cover. Both the spine and the decorative front board are stamped in black. 338pps., with a number of line drawings by Robert Amick. Stated First Editon, however these Grosset & Dunlap issues are re-prints using the same printing plates as the Harper original. There is mild bumping to the tips and spine-ends and a light soil-mark on the front board. Also, there is a faint bit of foxing to the page-edges. Otherwise clean, tight, square, and bright. The text is in splendid condition; no reading wear and no previous ownership markings. The dustjacket, glossy in a mylar sleeve, has modest edgewear and a 1 1/2" closed tear at the bottom of the front panel. All in all, a very nice and colorfully jacketed copy of this early issue. Slight lean, minor rubbing to edges. Deckled long and lower edges. The interior is lightly toned and read, but clean and clear.
