Internally clean, tight and unmarked. Apelles was 'the most celebrated painter of the ancient world' but though none of his work survived, Gombrich explores how his reputation and some of his techniques inspired Renaissance artists, notably Bosch and Da Vinci. 17.5 cm x 25 cm
