Original red cloth ruled in blind and lettered in gilt. Contemporary signature on half-title. Very good.

Otherwise in good condition but some damp staining to cloth especially volume II. A good set, tight and clean. Richard Ford (1796–1858) travel writer known for his books on Spain. Born in Chelsea and educated at Oxford, he moved to Spain in 1830, where he travelled extensively compiling notes and drawings. An account of his journeys "A Handbook for Travellers in Spain" published by John Murray in 1845 is now considered a classic in travel literature

Provenance: 'given me from "Manoah" Library' is written in ink on the verso of the front flyleaf; a bookplate ('Words | Words | Words | F A S') is mounted on the front pastedown. 'Manoah' was the name of the Adelaide Hills estate of Sir Josiah Symon (1846-1934); 'F A S' may be a Symon family member.
