Featuring a stunning new cover design from the Budapest-based graphic designer and illustrator Levente Szabo. Carefully selected by Ian Fleming Publications and Vintage Books, only three titles were issued in this edition, representing the best-loved of Ian Fleming James Bond books. Including a new introduction from my colleague John Cork, the James Bond historian and documentary filmmaker, plus a dossier section at the rear entitled 'From The Archives' reproducing some rarely-seen material relating to the original publication of the book. A fine publication, now rather elusive.

Publisher's softcovers illustrated by 'R.H' (Roger Hall), priced at 2s. No inscriptions. Some browning to pages as expected with the vintage paperbacks, covers are clean, not faded, foot of spine with 1.5 inch tear. A very good, presentable copy. The second and final printing featuring this uncharacteristic 'blonde Bond' illustration. The 'Peff' designed cover of the next printing introduced the now familiar rugged image of Bond, with the comma of black hair over the forehead. Gilbert A1a (2.1).

A scarce PROMOTIONAL COPY of the Penguin edition, published in conjunction with Men's Health. Unpriced, as called for. Contents are fine, covers a little handled, with minor rubs and wear to extremities. A most uncommon version marked 'Not for resale' to rear cover, with no printed barcode and no ISBN assigned. This book was issued for promotional purposes, given away with copies of Men's Health magazine. A must for completists. Gilbert A1a (57.2).

Octavo (19 x 11), each in the publisher's soft covers printed with a design or notice celebrating the recent filming of the title, edges coloured red or yellow. No ink names or writing, Dr.No has a bookstore stamp and price in pesetas (likely Mexican), cheap paper toned as expected, some general wear to spines and covers. A very good set. Difficult to assembkle; includes the scarce version of 'You Only Live Twice' with the neon pink film label applied. A full set (as published) of the Signet movie tie-ins; the remaining Fleming books were either not issued as tie-ins [e.g. Moonraker, The Spy Who Loved Me] or were released as tie-ins by other publishers [Bantam, Jove and Berkley/Charter]. Toning to cheap paperstock as expected, faint book shop stamp to 'Live & Let Die', ink initials to 'Goldfinger' no owner names or book shop stamps, spines rolled and rubbed as expected; generally very good.

The final three titles are FIRST PRINTINGS, designated 'P' series (not issued as 'D' series). Expected toning to cheap paper stock. A used set with some signs of reading and handling, some creases/soiling, ink ownership to For Your Eyes Only' and 'Thunderball', discreet ink price '10p' to 'Goldfinger'. Shows well as a set. A promotional copy of the first James Bond novel, not available for general sale. A most uncommon version marked 'Not for resale' to rear cover, with no printed barcode and no ISBN assigned. It comprises the Berkley sheets (ninth printing) in exclusive yellow covers (the regular Berkley copy was purple). These were given away with purchased copies of the then-current John Gardner 007 novel 'No Deals, Mr Bond,' (hardcover first edition included, very good). Octavo (19 x 11 x 19cm), each in the publisher's soft covers printed with a design celebrating the recent filming of the title. Some browning/toning to the cheap paperstock as expected. Some toning/sunning to spines, reading creases to same, light rubbing in places, owner name to 'Octopussy', ink stamps to 'Golden Gun' and 'The Living Daylights', small area of tip-ex to inside cover of 'Diamonds', remainder free from markings. A very good set, complete in this format; a further Fleming-Bond film tie-in would be issued by Penguin books for 'Casino Royale' (2006), but this was part of the larger-sized 'Modern Classics' series; the film tie-ins for The Spy Who Loved Me and Moonraker were not written by Fleming, and no UK tie-in was produced for A View To A Kill. A brand new protective clamshell box for Cape (UK) printings of the novel Casino Royale, part of a uniform series of James Bond boxes produced by Adrian Harrington. With black cloth covering, rounded spine blocked in gilt, inner trays lined with scarlet red 'suedelle' material. External dimensions 223 x 161 x 45mm. Boxes for all fourteen Ian Fleming James Bond titles are available, either individually or at a reduced price for the set. Each title features a gilt motif to spine, related to the plot of the book. Titled in serif type with sans serif text used for the author's name, as Fleming preferred, and accented with the characteristic 'swelled rule' device utilised by Cape. These functional boxes have been designed by Fleming bibliographer Jon Gilbert.
