Original cream doubled wrappers (with a fan fold at the top edge) -- printed in red with title: "Little Willie" / By / Eugene Field -- stitched and sewn, as issued, with decorative red silk cord tied at the spine-fold. Title page (limitation statement on verso) , Foreword (verso blank) , and the five stanzas of the poem printed on both sides of three leaves (the fifth stanza's leaf is blank on the verso, except for a device depicting a rampant lion in silhouette, final leaf entirely blank. OCLC: 27211002 The Foreword explains that the poem was composed by Eugene Field on October 19, 1895 and that the author died November 4, 1895. "The first four stanzas have appeared in several medical journals... Title is in all capital letters; the "L" and "W" being larger than the others. Red decorations precede each stanza. 4-1/2" x 5-3/4". Tiny notation and red dots on rear cover near spine; stapled spine is fragile. A near fine copy. Included at no charge is an unnumbered copy of Field's An Imitation of Robert Herrick which has tape marks on the inner covers. Unless otherwise noted, our first editions are first printings. Printed at the end of the text is the date: October 19, 1895., 1895.. Very good. - Oblong 12mo, 4-1/4"x5-3/4". Printed stapled self-wraps with the title on the front & a vignette of Willie seated backward on a rocking chair printed on the rear wrapper. 8 pages, including the wraps, with the text printed in black and decorated initials in salmon. There is a tiny tear to the leaves at the top and some minor soiling. Very good. Field's verse about his little boy Willie who "Cuddled close beside me when / He used to wet the bed".
