Young's extensive highly critical pencilled notes to fr.pastedown & free endpaper ('Not a book for serious review' he concludes)+underlining and marginal expostulations up to p.64, at which point he appears to have given up in exasperation, end references also ticked. Covers clean but pigment loss down fr. outer edge extending about a third of the width, also very marginally on back, outer corners sl.bumped. The best things about this copy are Young's comments: 'Quotes passages from one secondary source which is quoting another to arrive at judgments on writers whom he has never read' etc Slipped in letter from Nature 'In view of what you say, the book . will not be reviewed in Nature'.
