Book is in better condition than most examples of this age. Neat, clean, well bound pages with very minimal foxing, tanning and thumbing. Small inscriptions and neat labels may be present. Boards have mild shelf wear with light rubbing and corner bumping. Some light marking and sunning. Unclipped jacket has light edge-wear with minor tears and chipping. Mild rubbing and marking.

New York: St. Martin's Book. Illus. by Alexy Pendle. Near Fine. Hardcover. First Edition. Burgundy cloth, gilt lettering to spine. Jacket shows just a touch of rubbing on the front panel at the spine. Front flap has sticker shadow from old price sticker. A clean, tight copy published circa 1983. No date is indicated, but the jacket write-up states it's been 80 years since this story was serialized in 1903 in Little Folks. The author portrays family life at the turn of the century on the Welsh border. The "Hermitage" is a house on the edge of a "moss," home to nine children. Black & white illustrations accompany the text. Introduction by Margery Fisher. 0.
