Sir Alexander Mackenzie was a Scottish born Canadian explorer known for accomplishing the first east to west crossing of America north of Mexico in 1793, which preceded the more famous Lewis and Clark Expedition by 12 years. The Mackenzie River is named after him. He published this work "Voyages from Montreal, on The River St. Laurence Through the Continent of North America to the Frozen and Pacific Oceans: In the Years 1789 and 1793. With a Preliminary Account of the Rise, Progress, and Present State of the Fur Trade of that Country" in 1801. This publication is presented complete and unabridged. . Reprint. Hardback.
