The text is illustrated with colour and black-and-white photographs, and colour and black-and-white illustrations. Black coloured boards with gilt coloured titles to the backstrip. Colour photographic dustwrapper with yellow and white coloured titles to the front panel and backstrip. In this book over 50 of the greatest speeches ever given, and the stories behind them, with a small biography of the speaker also present. Included:  is the speech given by Napoleon Bonaparte farewelling his army in 1814; Clarence Darrow's seven-hour defence argument for Henry Sweet  a Black man on trial for murder after a white mob tried to evict him and his family from their house in 1926; Winston Churchill's speeches to the House of Commons during World War II; and, John F Kennedy's inauguration speech 1961, are but a few examples.
