Second editon of the text, but the first edition with cover design and typography by Karel Teige. The second of Bieble's works to be illustrated by Teige. 8vo. In blue wrappers. In excellent condition. Uncut. With 4 illustrations by Teige on yellow paper. Biebl, Konstantin. Zlom. Nové vydáni. (Rupture. New edition). Praha, Odeon, 1928. (19,8 x 14 cm). 64 pp. Typography and 4 coloured typographical compositions by Teige. Original wrappers, designed by Teige ¶ Edition of 1600 copies. The second, expanded edition of Bieble's surrealistic poems from the years 1923-1928 (1st ed., 1925, E.Jánská, design O.Fuchs and C.Bouda, 800 copies), here for the first time with Teige's typographical compositions, printed in red and black on yellow stock, illustrating his concept of modern illumination: new typography is not art, nor is it black. The black, grey and white ideal of the renaissance printing belongs to the past and, in the main polygraphical discipline, colour fulfills an ever more important role (Panorama, 12, 1934). The composition differ from the companian volume S lodi...., in using more decorative elements: stars, braces, etc. The cover design, however, printed in brown and blue on light blue stock, is strictly constructivist and incorporates both front and black cover, possibly inspired by El Lissitzkys cover for Wendingen (1921, however not published until December 1922 / January 1923). The title page, printed in red and black, is also different in being an almost functional design.(Odeon, 46). 1.000

About L'Estampe Originale
L'estampe Originale, founded in 1978 by Sandra Sofris Dolmatch, MFA, is a private art and antiquarian book dealer devoted to the research and selling of fine original prints, drawings, paintings, and sculpture- old master, nineteenth and twentieth century. It is a small company based on the traditional European model, that is to say with a medium sized and varied inventory embracing both major artists and minor, expensive and inexpensive. The list of writers, publishers and artists represented in our inventory is numerous, the techniques include a variety of drawings, etchings, engravings, aquatints, mezzotints, dry points, lithography, woodcuts, wood engravings, screen prints and a selection of mixed media. Although we are by nature generalists in the field, we have particular strengths in 19th and 20th century prints, paintings, and rare books. Sandra has been a member of ABAA, CINOA and ILAB since 1980. She numbers among her clients, private collectors, art dealers, libraries, foundations, as well as museums and rare book rooms in Europe, Asia, and Australia.
