Chicago: Robert Smith. Fine with no dust jacket. 1901. Cloth. 8VO; Unmarked, crisp, and firmly bound. Looks as though it has been sitting on a shelf, untouched, since1903. Spine , facing out, it has become a bit faded as a result. The book, with the exception of that, is AS NEW. This book has long been hailed as one of the most notable of the Oz imitations that appeared following the success of The Wonderful Wizard of Oz in 1900. Heavily illustrated. A tale of a young girl who rescued a prairie dog who turned out to be The Gnome Royal Prince and the subsequent Oz-like adventures. .
