The book itself is a Good copy. Boards are dulled and lightly soiled. Rubbing to extremities. There is a small water stain to the front board. The binding remains good and square. No loose pages. Light toning to the page edges. There is occasional spotting throughout the book but by no means to all pages. Dustiness to the page block edges with occasional light spotting. Inscribed by the Author on the title page: "To 'Jimmy'/ from/ Peter Cheyney/ 15/11/41". In the RARE D/W priced 7/6 net which is not price-clipped. Spine is sunned but otherwise bright and clean. Light rubbing to extremities. 1 or 2 tiny closed tears to edges. Top spine end is frayed and lightly chipped. Small amount of loss - 2 or 3mm - to bottom spine end. Otherwise very good. Overall, a good book (inscribed by the author) in a very good dust wrapper. Uncommon. Great period cover art by Pisani.
