About This Item

FIRST EDITION in red cloth with printing in black; lacking the dust jacket. The book is very good with some bumping to the spine ends and a small spot of wear to the front edge of the front cover; large sticker mostly removed from the front pastedown, (possibly from a rental library); two-inch square owner's label also on the front pastedown; rear endpaper missing; A guy from Oklahoma follows his runaway wife to Hollywood. Once there he falls in with an alcoholic film director. He takes up a life of petty crime and ends up convicted of murder. Even as he is saved from the gas chamber Considered an under-appreciated noir novel in the vein of James M. Cain and Horace McCoy.
