Publisher's blue cloth with gold spine lettering, octavo, pp. 342 plus author colophon. Black and white illustrations by Barry Martin. Signed by the author on a book plate affixed to front pastedown. Shelf rubs at spine ends and board edges and tips. Lower board tips bumped, as well. GOOD and sound, withal. Dust jacket FAIR-only with chips, short tears, general wear and rubbing around perimeter. Jacket now in removable protective Brodart. "The most Thoreauvian of Jesse's books," according to editor Ed Kuhn (see Richardson, "Jessie: The Biography of an American Writer," New York, 1984, page 363).
