Boston: Houghton Mifflin Company, 1931. viii, 349 pages. The Barretts were traveling through Patagonia when they met Chace (Of Taunton, Massachusetts and of Patagonia), a fearless adventurer. Book cover is quite sunned, with a couple very small faint stains on front; one corner lightly bumped. Some pages have light foxing at margins or gutter; page edges foxed. Pages 3-6 & 335-338 were crudely opened, so that there are rough tears/pieces missing from fore edges (does not affect text). Previous owner's name in pencil on half-title page. Dust jacket is price clipped; heavily toned, especially on spine; heavily chipped wtih pieces missing from extremities of spine and corners; tears along folds. In mylar.. First Edition. Hard Cover. Collectible-Good+/Fair. Illus. by Rockwell Kent. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall. Book.
