About This Item
Prentice-Hall, 1971. First edition, first printing. Hardcover. Fine/Fine.
8vo. 294 pp. Bound in red cloth, with a cascade of bubbles on the font board. The cloth spine bears the title, the author's name, and the publisher's name stamped in gilt. The dustwrapper is clean on all panels and sharp on all corners and edges. The text block is clean, sharp, and neat throughout. The front free endpaper bears an unobtrusive library stamp, below which is the felt-tip inscribed SIGNATURE of Lawrence Welk himself. This is an excellent signed copy of the polka master's memoirs. From Yankovic to Floren: they are all here, painted by maestro Welk in vivid recollection. It was written at the zenith of his power, both as a musician and as a writer. Although this is an Ex- Libris copy (that small rubber stamp is the only sign that the book was once the property of a local library), it is a rare must-have for any music lover.
