London: Smith, Elder and Co., 1911-12. Leather. Very Good Indeed. 8.5" by 5.5". Various. A sixteen volume set of the complete works of Mrs Mary Augusta Humphry Ward. A limited edition copy, signed by the author. The Westmorland edition. Signed by the author to volume I with limited edition number 167 of 250. Illustrated throughout with photographic plates. Twelve plates to volume I, four to volume II, nine to volume III, seven plates to volume V, five plates to volume VI, three plates to volume VII, six to volume VIII, nine plates to volume IX, six to volume X, four to volume XI, five to volume XII, eight to volume XIII, five to volume XIV, five to volume XV, three to volume XVI. Collated, complete. Mary Augusta Ward was a British novelist who began her career writing articles for Macmillan's Magazine. In original full cloth bindings with paper spine labels. Externally, generally smart with some minor bumping to the extremities and to the head and tail of spines. Crease to most spine labels. Minor rubbing to the spine of volume XIV and V. Front hinge to volumes I, III, IV, V, VI, VIII, IX, XVIII and XIV are slightly strained but firm. Frontispiece to volume IV is disbound. Volume XIII is generally firmly bound but strained in places. Otherwise, all volumes are generally firmly bound. Small loss to top outer corner of first sixteen pages to volume XIV possibly due to worming. Some offsetting to endpapers. Pages are generally bright with instances of light scattered spots. Very Good Indeed
