About This Item

New York: Stein & Day, 1975. 1st U.S. ed.. Hardback octavo, dustjacket, very good condition (in very good dustjacket), black & white text-photos & drawings, minor edgewear spine ends jacket (small closed tear top edge, rear cover lightly marked & scratched), owner's written name & date. 289 pp. Peter Marsden relates the story of the Dutch merchant ship's ill-fated voyage from Jakarta, but wrecked off the English coast (Hastings) in 1749. It then tells a fascinating story of how, in 1969, the author and a team of dedicated researchers become involved in salvaging this great ship. Fully documented and illustrated with nearly 200 photographs that tell the complete story of this great ship's past and present.
