About This Item
Santa Barbara: Capra Press, 1980. First Edition. Hardcover. Fine. This is copy number 191 of 250 signed by Henry Miller, published to commemorate the fiftieth anniversary of the death of D.H. Lawrence. "The genesis of The World of Lawrence dates back to Paris, 1932, when Jack Kahane of the Obelisk Press, who had recently agreed to publish Tropic of Cancer, suggested to Miller that it would be politic if prior to the publication of such a shocking novel he were to appear on the literary scene as the author of a short critical study of Lawrence or Joyce." Edited with an Introduction and Notes by Evelyn J. Hinz and John J. Teunissen. Octavo. Original brown leatherette binding, with gilt titles. A fine copy.
